Experience

Roddy Ormonde – Principal Engineer

Roddy is the founder and Principal Engineer at Rombus Mining. He is an experienced technical manager with 25 years of experience. Having obtained a Mining Engineering Degree with Honours from the Western Australian School of Mines in 1982 he joined RGC as a graduate, and apart from two years in Mineral Sands has since worked exclusively in the underground metalliferous sector of the industry.

After beginning as a graduate on the west coast of Tasmania, Roddy went on to further his technical experience in lead and copper mines in Mount Isa, the Zambian copper belt, and goldfields  in Victoria and West Africa. This broad experience provided exposure to wide variety of mineralisation and mining styles.

Since forming Rombus Mining in 2012 Roddy has worked for small, mid-tier and major clients in Australia, West and Sub-Saharan Africa, and Russia.

Roddy has a First-class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency, and is a long-standing member of the AusIMM.
